A3C AP! - Cruising Gennaker

Our Cruising Gennakers are priced at standard sized Gennaker prices, BUT.... are Custom Sizes and Colors!

WHY???????

  • Price - Because we are doing our very best for you!

  • SIZE

  • There are fantastically different Sailboat RIG/Mast Aspect Ratios, and designs.

  • So, when you make (and we have made....) standard sizes you can only work with what is best for and "Average"  aspect ratio and mast position to decide those sizes. It is,... honestly... rare that a standard sized gennaker will be the "best fit" for a boat.

  • We have made this calculator to design the luff length,... leech length and foot length based you YOUR RIG, and YOUR BOAT... Indeed these calculations are the calculations we have always based our customer sized A3C (Cruising Gennaker) sails on.

  • Ask us if you have any doubts or questions!

  • Place the order

  • Robship will then do the sail design based on the given sizes and send you a drawing of the sail (Time - Within 2 days)

  • Then, you can choose the colors for the panels and the leech tapes and patches from our standard stocked colors. (Black, Grey, Dark Blue, Light Blue, White) Leech tapes to match sail or or usual red, blue and white tapes for standard luff/leech/foot tape and patch colors (Time - Waiting your reply and confirmation)

  • We send an updated drawing with the colors for confirmation. (Time - Within 2 Days)

  • We make and ship the sail. (Time - Within 2 weeks) ((Unless a longer lead time warning is here.....))

Size information

I, J, P, E is your sailboat Rig Data and for most boats can be found in the manual for the sailboat or here: https://sailboatdata.com/

Of Course, it is good to check that this data matches your boat in real life..... There are all sorts of things that can happen in between.... boat dismasted and different or shortened mast used to replace,... special factory order,.... model "between" models etc. This data is however surprising accurate for most production boats.

NOTE: (Isp) We need the Isp or height of Spinnaker Halyard Exit. On many boats this is the same height as the forestay and = to I so ok as is. IF you have a fractional rig and are using a masthead Spinnaker halyard etc, then you must give the Isp for this calculator to give the proper result.

NOTE; (J/STL) We need the STL or length from Mast to the tack point of the Gennaker. If there is no bowsprit then this will often be J plus 0.2m or so (the length of the Anchor roller to which the gennaker might be tied for example. If you have a bowsprit we need the length from the front of the mast to the tack point for the Gennaker, STL.

Luff Length: Based on the forestay length calculated from Isp and J(STL) and lengthened by 4% to allow for the roundness of the luff of the sail when flying.

Calculated Forestay: Is the forestay length calculated from Isp and J(STL) This is an excellent think to check if any doubt at all on your sailboat rig data.
