When splicing professionally in our workshop we have ALWAYS mounted our splicing tools in a vice. This allows you to use both hands for splicing and HUGELY increases the speed and ease with which you can work.

After working like this and going to a boat to do splicing onboard we feel like we have one hand tied behind our backs! FINALLY…. The solution to make splicing onboard as easy as working in shop with bench mounted splicing tools is available with our Winch Mount Type Splicing Tools. Of course we also offer more standard type splicing tools.

Our tools all have a removable wire section with a wire holder, wire spreader, and screw with a 6mm Allen (hexagon) wrench. Thus you can change the wire size or replace as needed.

Each tool come with a spare wire and spare screw/holder/spacer set included.

Included Wire is suitable for splicing 6 to 12mm ropes. And is made from 2mm stainless hard wire and is 450mm long from the end of the wire to the edge of the splicing tool.

Other wire diameters and length for other sizes of rope available for sale separately.

Four Types:

1. Winch, Vertical

     - Use by hand: Pistol Grip for natural hand position 

     - Use in a vice: Parallel flat outside surface for Vice mounting

     - Use mounted in a winch: Standard winch handle style mounting head

     - Bottom section including the screw/wire holder part is solid, with upper part partially hollow to improve balance and reduce weight

2. Winch, Horizontal

     - Use by hand: Horizontal hand hold win width enough for 2 fingers for even the largest hands.

     - Use in a vice: Handle section has parallel flat surfaces to allow vice mounting

     - Use mounted in a winch: Standard winch handle style mounting head

     - Fully Solid Construction

3. Winch, Mini

     - Use in a vice: parallel flat sides to allow vice mounting

     - Use mounted in a winch: Standard winch handle style mounting head

     - Use by hand is possible, but, due to the small size is difficult.

     - Fully Solid Construction

4. Hand (Will be released last week of March)

     - Use by hand: Compact easy to use splicing tool designed for use by hand

     - Use in a vice: parallel flat sides to allow vice mounting

     - Fully Solid Construction

NOTE : Winch Handle Mounts will be available here (it will be released 1st week of April) for workshop use, or for specially mounting on powerboats etc. Our winch handle mounts are designed to take the stress created when pulling cores thru tighter ropes.
